The Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng

Unearthed in 1977, the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng is an important archaeological site located in Suizhou, China. Dated to about 433 BCE using calendar data gleaned from a lacquered clothing chest, the tomb houses the remains of Yi as well as 21 women. It is noted for containing a large ensemble of ritual musical instruments, including dozens of string instruments and a set of 65 bianzhong, or bronze bells.
