The Fregoli Delusion

The Fregoli delusion is a rare disorder in which a person irrationally suspects that different people he encounters are actually a single individual using multiple disguises. It is related to the Capgras delusion, in which a loved one is suspected of having been replaced by an imposter, as both disorders are thought to involve a breakdown in normal face perception and are characterized as delusional misidentification syndromes. Why is this delusion named after the Italian actor Leopoldo Fregoli? Discuss
