The Shadow

According to the founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung, the shadow is the part of the unconscious mind that consists of forbidden feelings, primitive instincts, and repressed desires. Supposedly, a person can interact with their own shadow in a variety of ways—including falling victim to it—and the shadow can appear to a person as a figure in their dreams.
