Tofu is a protein-rich food that is a popular meat substitute. It originated in China some 2,000 years ago and is a staple of Asian cuisine. Though tofu itself is fairly bland, what it lacks in flavor it makes up for in versatility; it comes in a range textures and works well in both sweet and savory dishes.
