Definition: (noun) A label bearing the owner's name or other identification that is pasted usually on the inside cover of a book.
Synonyms: ex libris.
Usage: I learned from the bookplate that the previous owner of my copy of <i>Gone with the Wind</i> had been a woman named Scarlett.
